X363: Keeping the Wild Where they Should be: a Basic class on the Ethics of Having Cetaceans in Captivity in Splash Fall 2014 (Nov. 16, 2014)
I will be talking about the industry of Sea World and the like, especially focusing on the cetacean side of things. I hope to tell a story of pain among these beautiful animals, and why they do not deserve to be put into a small environmental space. I will first focus on their natural behavior, and then focus on the behavior that we see among captive animals. Then we will have a discussion regarding the ethics and possible solutions we can create to solve this massive problems. A huge portion of this class will be based on the acclaimed movie, Blackfish.


S390: Marine Science in Splash Fall 2014 (Nov. 16, 2014)
In this class, we will explore the various topics related to Marine Science. We will talk about what's so "cool" about studying the marine world, and what's so important about it. We will also discuss how we are so dependent on the water that surrounds the land. We will touch base on the various environments that live in the ocean, and how they rely not only on the other parts of the ocean, but also on the atmosphere. Then, we will generate a list of concerns for our oceans, and talk about some solutions for those concerns.


X236: What is PETA Doing? A Guide to the Ethics and History of the Animal Rights Movement in Splash Spring 2014 (Apr. 13, 2014)
I will be talking about the history of animal rights and the various ethics involved behind the movement. At the end, there will be a discussion on people's perspectives, where questions may be answered or various considerable controversial issues regarding animal rights. Questions will be asked during the discussion to inspire the discussion.
