Brief Biographical Sketch:
I am a WWII reenactor (also known as a "Living Historian", and occasionally as a "History Impersonator") with a unit based out of the NJ/NY area that portrays the men who fought as a part of Fox Company 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR) 101st Airborne. We are the brother company to Easy Company (of Band of Brothers fame) and fought with them throughout WWII. Past Classes(Clicking a class title will bring you to the course's section of the corresponding course catalog)X916: History of the 101st Airborne in WWII in Splash Spring 2018 (Apr. 08, 2018)
This will be a brief overview of the history of the 101st Airborne division during the second world war. It will cover its creation, training, combat actions during the war (Normandy, Holland, Battle of the Bulge, and occupation of Germany), and where the unit is today. The presentation will be complimented by the use of props (I am a reenactor and will be in full uniform) that will be used to help foster an understanding of what life was like for the soldier during war and make history come to life. Props include such things as webgear, cartridge belts, helmets, shovels, rations, uniforms, etc. People will be free to pick up, play with, wear anything I bring. *
Neither firearms and ammunition (either live or blanks) will be present in the room under any circumstances.
*Bladed weapons (bayonets, combat knives, etc.) may be shown off but have been dulled to the point of uselessness and will be kept on my person at all times and will not be available to be played with (this is up to the discretion of the program directors and safety is always of the utmost importance).
