S594: Making Maps with GIS in Splash Spring 2016 (Apr. 10, 2016)
GIS or Geographic Information Science is the science of making digital maps from spatial data. Whether you simply love maps or want to change the world, GIS is a handy tool to know. It has numerous applications, from trying to find the nearest park to mapping deforestation in tropical rainforests. This class will introduce you to the basic concepts of GIS and show you how to make your own map and do simple spatial analysis. No prior experience of GIS, programming or statistics necessary, only the love of learning.
